How do I delete a write key?

Objective

This article helps you remove a write key from a Conversation Memory data source, for example after rotating keys or retiring an environment.

Product

Conversation Memory

Environment

Twilio Console

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Data in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Conversation Memory, then Data sources.
  3. Select the source, then open its Settings page.
  4. Select Edit to open the Edit source settings panel, which lists the source's write keys.
  5. Select Delete write key next to the key you want to remove.
  6. A Write key deleted confirmation appears and the key is removed from the list.

Additional Information

  • A source must always keep at least one write key. When only one key exists, no Delete write key action is shown for it, create a replacement key first, then delete the old one.
  • Deleting a key takes effect immediately, so anything still sending with it stops being accepted. Update your website or app to the replacement key before deleting.
  • If the deletion fails, a Failed to delete write key message appears and the key stays in the list.
