How do I delete an identity rule?

Objective

This article helps you remove an identity rule from a memory store, so the traits behind it are no longer used to match and merge customer profiles.

Product

Conversation Memory

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

Your role must allow reading and updating Conversation Memory identity resolution settings.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Data in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Conversation Memory, then Memory stores.
  3. Select the store, then open the Identifiers tab.
  4. Under Priority, open the actions menu at the end of the rule's row and select Delete rule.
  5. Confirm the deletion. An Identity rule deleted successfully. confirmation appears, noting that the traits associated with the rule will no longer be used to merge and match profiles and that changes take a few moments to take effect.

Additional Information

  • The default email and phone identity rules cannot be deleted, the Delete rule action is unavailable for them.
  • Deleting a rule does not remove the underlying trait fields from your profiles; it only stops them being used for identity resolution.
  • If the deletion fails, a Failed to delete identity rule message appears and the rule remains in the list.
