How do I edit an identity rule?

Objective

This article helps you change an existing identity rule in a memory store, its name, the trait fields mapped to it, or its position in the priority order.

Product

Conversation Memory

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

Your role must allow reading and updating Conversation Memory identity resolution settings.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Data in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Conversation Memory, then Memory stores.
  3. Select the store, then open the Identifiers tab.
  4. Under Priority, open the actions menu at the end of the rule's row and select Edit rule. The Edit identity rule panel opens.
  5. Note the Edits are not retroactive warning at the top of the panel.
  6. Update the rule name, the trait fields mapped to the rule, or its priority position.
  7. Select Save changes. An Identifiers updated successfully. confirmation appears, noting that changes take a few moments to take effect.

Additional Information

  • Edits to an existing rule are not applied retroactively to profiles that already exist.
  • Default identity rules keep their name, the name field is unavailable for them, but you can still change their trait mapping and priority.
  • You can also reach this panel from the store's Traits tab: for a trait marked with an Identifier badge, choose Manage identifier from its row actions.
  • If the update fails, a Failed to update identifier message appears and the rule is left unchanged.
