How do I add a trait field to a trait group?

Objective

This article helps you add a new trait field to a memory store, so Conversation Memory can store an extra piece of information about each customer and you can map incoming data into it.

Product

Conversation Memory

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

Your role must allow listing and updating Conversation Memory trait groups.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Data in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Conversation Memory, then Memory stores.
  3. Select the store, then open the Traits tab.
  4. Find the trait group you want to extend and select Add trait on its card.
  5. Fill in the trait's details, including its name, data type, and description.
  6. Submit the form. The new trait appears in that group's table.

Additional Information

  • Each trait group has a limit on how many traits it can hold. If you have reached it, a Trait limit reached message appears and tells you to delete an existing trait before adding a new one.
  • Trait names must be unique within a group. Adding a trait that already exists in the group is rejected.
  • You can also create a trait on the fly while mapping data, during a CSV import, when mapping CRM or warehouse columns, or when adding an inferred trait to an extraction strategy.
