How do I create an extraction strategy?

Objective

This article helps you set up an extraction strategy so Conversation Memory infers specific customer profile traits from your conversations automatically, using instructions you write for each trait.

Product

Conversation Memory

Environment

Twilio Console

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Data in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Conversation Memory, then Extraction strategies.
  3. Select Create extraction strategy.
  4. On the Select strategy type step, answer What would you like to extract from conversations? by choosing Customer profile traits.
  5. Enter a Name for the strategy and, optionally, a Description, then continue to the next step.
  6. On the Configure strategy step, choose the Profile store whose traits this strategy should infer.
  7. Select Add inferred trait. Pick the Trait name you want inferred, or select Create new trait to add one, then write the Inference instructions, a natural language prompt describing how to infer this trait from a conversation.
  8. Select Add inferred trait to add it to the list. Repeat for each trait you want the strategy to infer.
  9. Select Create extraction strategy. An Extraction strategy created successfully confirmation appears.

Additional Information

  • The strategy name can contain only letters, numbers, and hyphens, and can be up to 64 characters long. The description can be up to 1024 characters long, and inference instructions can be up to 1024 characters each.
  • The strategy type and the profile store cannot be changed after the strategy is created, so choose them carefully.
  • A strategy must infer at least one trait, and there is a maximum number of traits a single strategy can infer.
  • The same trait can be inferred only once per strategy, traits you have already added are removed from the picker.
  • To review or remove an inferred trait before saving, expand it in the list and use Delete inferred trait.
