Environment
Twilio Console
User Account Permission/Role(s) Required
You need the account-level permission to upgrade the account. Without it, the page shows Access is required.
Procedure
- In the Twilio Console, select the Trial badge in the account status area at the top of the page, then select Upgrade.
- Select Upgrade account. The Your account and tax details step opens.
- Under Account details, choose whether you are a Business or an Individual.
- Enter your legal name:
- For Business, enter the Legal business name.
- For Individual, enter the Legal first name and Legal last name.
- Under Tax details, select your Country, then start typing into Address line 1 and pick your address from the suggestions. If your address is not suggested, choose the option to enter it manually and fill in City, the state or province field for your country, and the postal code field for your country.
- Enter any tax ID fields shown. Which fields appear depends on your country, your state or province, and whether you selected Business or Individual.
- Select Next. Twilio validates your address and creates your billing details before moving you to the balance step.
Additional Information
- The tax address is the physical address where you will use Twilio services for United States customers. For all other customers it is your permanent place of establishment, such as your head office.
- Only countries Twilio can bill in are listed in the Country field.
- Field names and requirements vary by country. For example, India uses PinCode and State, while Canada uses Postal code and Province.
- Tax ID fields are country- and region-specific. A Canadian business in British Columbia is asked for two tax IDs (GST/HST and PST), a business in Ontario for one, and an individual in Canada for none.
- The legal name is capped at 255 characters. For individuals, the limit applies to the first and last name combined.
- Changing the country here can change your billing currency, which resets the balance amounts offered on the next step.
- If a tax ID is still being checked, the step continues and Twilio emails you when the check completes. If a tax ID fails validation, the step shows Tax ID validation failed and you must correct it before continuing.
