Why do my Australian sender IDs show as unregistered?

Objective

This article explains the unregistered-Australian-sender-ID warning on your alphanumeric sender ID inventory, and shows you how to find and register the affected senders.

Product

Programmable Messaging

Environment

Twilio Console

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Numbers & senders, then Overview.
  3. Select Alphanumeric sender IDs, then My Inventory.
  4. Read the notice at the top of the page, You have unregistered Australian sender IDs or You may have unregistered Australian sender IDs.
  5. In the Countries column, look for senders showing an Unregistered count and select View details to open that sender.
  6. On the Sender details page, find the Australian row in the countries table and select Complete registration to start the registration.

Additional Information

Australian alphanumeric sender IDs require ACMA registration. Unregistered sender IDs will appear as "Unverified" to recipients starting July 1st, 2026.

The warning wording differs depending on certainty: You have unregistered Australian sender IDs means at least one is confirmed unregistered, while You may have unregistered Australian sender IDs means the registration status could not be confirmed for every sender.

You can also track submitted registrations on the Registrations tab.
