How do I set an alphanumeric sender ID as the default sender for a country?

Objective

This article shows you how to nominate one of your alphanumeric sender IDs as the Default Sender ID for particular countries, so Twilio can use it to optimise deliverability when your API request specifies a long code or an unregistered sender ID as the From value.

Product

Programmable Messaging

Environment

Twilio Console

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Numbers & senders, then Overview.
  3. Select Alphanumeric sender IDs, then My Inventory.
  4. Select the actions menu on the sender's row and choose View sender details.
  5. On the Sender details page, select Edit default status.
  6. In the Set as Default Sender panel, under Select countries where this sender will be used as a Default Sender ID, choose the countries you want. You can also disable the option for a country.
  7. Select Set as default sender.
  8. A confirmation message appears: Default sender countries updated successfully, and the panel closes.

Additional Information

The Default Sender ID is used to optimise messaging deliverability in scenarios where a long code or an unregistered sender ID has been specified as the From in the API request. You can set the Default Sender ID separately for each country, or disable the option.

Select Cancel to close the panel without saving.

If the update fails, a message appears: Failed to update default status. Please try again.
