How do I set up a new short code?

Objective

This article shows you where to start the guided setup for a new short code, so you can send and receive high-volume two-way messaging from a memorable short number.

Product

Programmable Messaging

Environment

Twilio Console

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Numbers & senders, then Overview.
  3. Select Short Codes, then My Inventory.
  4. Select Set up a new short code.
  5. The guided setup opens. Follow it to choose the country and provide the registration details required for the short code.
  6. Track the submission afterwards on the Registrations tab; once the short code is provisioned it appears under My Inventory.

Additional Information

The same Set up a new short code action is available from the Registrations tab.

Short codes require carrier review, so expect the registration to take some time before the short code becomes usable.
