Issue
Some Twilio users with Canadian phone numbers may notice that the Canada (CA1) voice region is not available as an option in the Console when configuring outbound call regions. Only regions such as US1, AU1, and IE1 may appear.
Product
Programmable Voice
Environment
Twilio Console
Cause
Twilio currently operates the following regions for Programmable Voice:
- United States (US1)
- Ireland (IE1)
- Australia (AU1)
By default, all workloads are handled in the United States (US1) region, which is located in the eastern United States. Some products and features are also available in the Ireland (IE1) and Australia (AU1) regions. For more details, see Twilio Regions and Regional Product Availability.
At this time, Twilio does not offer a separate processing or data storage region specifically for Canada (CA1). As a result, the CA1 region will not appear as an option in the Console, even for Canadian phone numbers.
Resolution
- Use one of the available regions (US1, IE1, AU1) for your voice workloads.
- If you require a dedicated Canadian region for compliance or latency reasons, this is not currently supported.
Additional Information
Twilio values customer feedback and is continually evaluating regional expansion based on user needs. If a dedicated Canada (CA1) region is important for your business, please share your feedback with Twilio Support. All feedback is shared with our product team for consideration in future updates.
We apologize for any inconvenience this limitation may cause and appreciate your understanding.
