Documents Required and Instructions to Register Your Alphanumeric Sender ID in Thailand

Before we begin

Due to regulatory requirements, there is sometimes a need for documents to be signed by customers to ensure that registrations are done on behalf of customers that have the right to use the Sender ID. This serves to ensure that traffic is coming from legitimate sources and minimizes any potential misuse.

This article outlines the documentation requirements for a pre-registration in Thailand

Things to note:

We would like to inform you that, National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand has announced a restriction on SMS messages containing URL links, expected to be on January 1st, 2025. This policy is being implemented to help protect Thai consumers from fraud and cybercrimes.

In accordance to this regulation, all Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) are required to submit information regarding any companies that intend to include URL links in their SMS messages. This information must be submitted to the NBTC for reference and approval. The details to be provided to the NBTC include:
  1. Company names
  2. Type of business/industry
  3. Sender IDs
  4. URL links included in the message
  5. Objective of the URL link
  6. Letter of Authorization (LOA)

Ensure you include all this information if you have any URLs in your SMS samples when you submit an application to Twilio.

Instructions

To register your Alphanumeric Sender ID, the Thailand network operators require that you provide the following documents:

  • Two Thailand Letter of Authorizations (LOAs)
  • Form to Register the Sender ID Name

To get you up and running as quickly as possible, please fill out the documents completely and accurately and provide any other required information. Use the examples provided for guidance. Note that mobile network carriers are very strict about the details! We highly recommend that you download the examples (hit right click, and select 'Save Image As...') and do a side by side comparison when you are filling out the documents.
