A2P 10DLC Campaign Vetting Delays: Twilio cannot approve 10DLC Campaigns ourselves, and must rely on third parties who control our connections to carriers to sign off. These external processes are creating several week delays for our customers. We continue to escalate these issues and are working to reduce delays wherever possible. Further details will be shared in the Campaign Vetting Changes article as they become available.

Notice: MTN Group Pre-Registration (February 2022)

Beginning February 8, 2022, wireless carrier MTN Group began applying additional SMS message filtering to combat increasing cases of fraud. To maintain service continuity, all users sending messages to MTN Group destinations will need to pre-register a unique Alphanumeric Sender ID for each Twilio account SID.

This guide covers the following topics:

Affected countries

These new filtering efforts will apply to MTN Group destinations in the following 16 African and Asian countries:

  • Afghanistan
  • Benin
  • Cameroon
  • Congo
  • Ghana
  • Guinea
  • Guinea-Bissau
  • Ivory Coast
  • Liberia
  • Nigeria
  • Rwanda
  • South Sudan
  • Sudan
  • Uganda
  • Yemen
  • Zambia

Can I still use 10-digit long codes?

No, MTN group destinations will be filtering all numeric Sender IDs. Customers who have been using Numeric Sender IDs to send messages to these countries will now be required to pre-register their Alphanumeric Sender IDs to avoid filtering.

How do I pre-register my Alphanumeric Sender ID?

Users must fill out this application form to pre-register their Alphanumeric Sender ID. Once the form has been submitted, it may take up to 2-3 weeks to complete the pre-registration process.

Notice: Once the pre-registration process has been completed, customers should continue to pass their Twilio number as the From parameter in their code. Twilio will then automatically apply the registered Alphanumeric Sender ID for this Account SID across the route.

Can I use multiple Alphanumeric Sender IDs?

Multiple Sender IDs per country will no longer be supported in a single customer account. Each Twilio Account SID can only support 1 pre-registered Sender ID, and sharing of the ID between Account SIDs is not allowed. If your use case requires multiple Sender IDs, we recommend you create additional Twilio Accounts or Subaccounts for these purposes.
