IPv6 support in Twilio's Network Traversal Service

Question

Does Twilio's Network Traversal Service support IPv6 addressing?

Product

Network Traversal Service

Answer

Twilio’s Network Traversal Service (NTS), which provides global STUN and TURN services for WebRTC and VoIP applications, does not currently support IPv6. Here are the key points:

  • IPv4 Only: Both STUN and TURN endpoints provided by Twilio NTS are accessible via IPv4 addresses only.

  • If your application or users require IPv6 connectivity for STUN/TURN, Twilio’s Network Traversal Service will not meet that requirement at this time. All ICE server connections must be made over IPv4.
