How To View SSL Certificate Details of a Website

Objective

The purpose of an SSL certificate is to secure a website by encrypting data, authenticating a website's identity, and creating a secure, trusted connection between a user's browser and the web server. Every now and then, you may want to review the certificate details of a website to ensure that the SSL certificate is still valid and that the SSL certificate is not too close to its expiration date. This article outlines the steps one can take in order to view the SSL certificate details of a website.

Procedure

In order to view the SSL certificate details of a website, one can perform the following steps:

  1. In your web browser, navigate to the website whose SSL certificate is to be viewed.
  2. Click on the View Site Information button.
  3. Click Connection is secure.

  4. Click Certificate is valid.

  5. View the certificate information.
