How to Use the Phone Number Permission Check on Geo-Permissions

Objective

While making outbound calls from Twilio numbers, you may come across error message(s) like Account not authorized to call or receive warnings like 212153220513227. These errors indicate that the call is being blocked due to Geo Permissions

In these situations, before enabling Low-Risk or High-Risk permissions, it will be useful to check whether the destination number belongs to a Low-Risk Number Range or a High-Risk Toll Fraud Range.

Procedure

This guide will give you a walkthrough for how to use the Phone # Permission Check feature.

  • Visit Voice Geographic Permissions
  • Click on Phone # Permission Check button.
  • Click on the icon showing 'Flag' and change to the desired country.
    • The country code would automatically populate in the drop-down right next to it.
  • Enter ONLY the number as shown in the screenshot below:

Note: DO NOT TYPE the country code in the textbox when inputting the number to check. Our internal system automatically prepends the listed country code with the number that you input via textbox.

  • Click on Check Permissions button.
  • Once the system completes checking the number, you will be shown results.
    • A sample when the input number is detected to be in 'High Risk for Toll Fraud' range:

  • A sample when the input number is detected to be in 'Low-Risk' range:
