How to Check the Version and Update Twilio for Salesforce

Objective

This article aims to provide Salesforce administrators and users with step-by-step instructions to verify the current version of Twilio for Salesforce installed in their organization and successfully update it to the latest supported release, ensuring continued compatibility and access to new features and fixes.

Procedure 

To check you current Twilio For Salesforce Version

  1. Log into your organization's Salesforce instance.
  2. Click on the Setup tab to view Settings.
  3. Use the Quick Find search box to search and select for Installed Package or navigate to Apps - Packaging - Installed Packages.


     

  4. In the Installed Packages list, locate Twilio for Salesforce and look to the right for the Version Number column.
  5. Your version number will look similar to this: 4.XX.


 

To upgrade to the latest Twilio for Salesforce version

Note : Please validate all use cases in the sandbox with relation to your organization before upgrading in production.

 

STEP 0: Deactivate workflow rules - Workflows will be migrated to flows as a part of upgrade.

Setup -> Workflow Rules -> Deactivate the following workflow rules

  • Opt-In Keyword Unique

  • Opt-In Made Inactive

  • Opt-In Reactivated
     

STEP 1: PRE UPGRADE STEPS - (Only complete this step if your organization has a version of Twilio For Salesforce installed that is lower than v4.99)

  • Create a report on TwilioSF__Message__c (Message)object and group it by field TwilioSF__Message_SID__c. Using this report, you can identify any duplicate messages.

  • All duplicate messages need to be deleted from the your salesforce org using dataloader.

  • After deleting all duplicate messages, you can upgrade the package to the latest version.
     

STEP 2: UPGRADE TO LATEST PACKAGE T4SF

  • Production and Sandbox links are available in the changelog.

STEP 3: POST UPGRADE STEPS - (Only complete this step if your organisation has a version of Twilio For Salesforce installed that is lower than v4.84)

Update the custom field “TwilioSF__Contact__c”, “TwilioSF__Lead__c”, “TwilioSF__Account__c” with the appropriate records on TwilioSF__Message__c object for all existing messages using dataloader.

“TwilioSF__Account__c” needs to be populated only if the customer org is using personal account.
 

STEP 4: Restart the Sync Jobs

Within your Salesforce org, go to the "Twilio Configuration" tab ——> Click the "Schedule" button under the "Message Syncing" section.
