Answer
Messages being sent from "Likely-SCAM" occur due to compliance regulations in specific regions, such as Singapore and Ireland. This designation is mandated by local regulators to prevent fraudulent activities and ensure secure communications. When a message does not meet the criteria set by these regulators, the Sender ID is automatically overwritten to "Likely-SCAM" or similar.
Additional Information
By understanding these compliance requirements and adjusting your messaging practices accordingly, you can maintain trusted communications and avoid disruptions. You can find SMS Guidelines specific to each country here.
- Regions Affected: This primarily affects messages sent to Singapore and Ireland, where local regulations require strict compliance checks.
- Messaging Logs: Prior to July 2025, you will not see the overwritten "Likely-SCAM" Sender ID in your messaging logs and Insights, instead the original “From” parameter is recorded. However, after July 2025, you will start to see the "From" parameter overwritten with "Likely-SCAM" in Logs and Insights for messages sent from unregistered Alphanumeric Sender IDs in Ireland and, at a later date, for unregistered Alphanumeric Sender IDs, Long Codes and Short Codes in Singapore.
- End User Experience: For end users, messages will appear with the Sender ID "Likely-SCAM." on their mobile devices. This is intended to alert recipients to potential issues with the message's origin, although the content remains unchanged.
- Compliance and Prevention: To avoid messages being marked as "Likely-SCAM," ensure that your messaging practices comply with local regulations. This includes ensuring you have correctly registered your Sender IDs and adhering to SMS guidelines.
