Resolved: Audio Functionality Impacted in Google Chrome v136

Update: This issue was resolved on May 14, 2025.

We are aware of an audio issue impacting a subset of Twilio’s services following the release of Google Chrome version 136 on April 29, 2025.

Issue

A change introduced in Chrome v136 can cause the getUserMedia() function to fail or experience significant delays (over 20 seconds), causing issues with audio functionality.

Impact

Users on the Twilio Voice JS SDK, Twilio Video JS SDK, or Twilio Flex agents using the Voice channel may experience issues if they have upgraded their browser to the new Chrome v136.

The issue seems to occur primarily on certain Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices. Devices running macOS and some Windows devices do not appear to be affected.

Status

As of May 14, 2024, Google has resolved this issue with Chrome version M136.0.7103.92/93. Users should update their Chrome browser to this version or later to ensure proper functionality.
