Getting Started with MMS Converter

With Twilio's MMS Converter, you can send MMS messages to any destination - even those where MMS isn't supported. Continue reading for more details about MMS Converter.

How MMS Converter Works

When enabled, MMS Converter will only come in to play on outbound MMS messages sent from a supported US or Canada-based Twilio phone number, and only to destinations that don't support MMS. For these messages, MMS Converter will replace the attached media with a short URL added to the message body that links to the file.

When MMS Converter is disabled, any requests to send MMS messages to unsupported destinations will receive an HTTP 400 error response.

Note: MMS Converter does not work on messages incoming to Twilio.

Enable MMS Converter on a Twilio Project

  1. Access the Programmable SMS Settings page in Console.

Enable MMS Converter on a Messaging Service

Enabling MMS Converter on a Messaging Service will take precedence over the project setting. If MMS Converter is disabled on a project, but enabled on a Messaging Service, any eligible messages sent from the service will use MMS Converter.

  1. Access the Messaging Services page in Console.
  2. Click the desired Messaging Service.
  3. Click the Features tab.
