In May of 2018, Twilio was informed by the Canadian Local Number Portability Consortium (CLNPC - http://www.clnpc.ca/) that due to contractual reasons, Twilio cannot provide carrier or portability details about Canadian numbers via the Lookup API without a contract existing between the Twilio customer and the CLNPC.
What this Change Looks Like
After May 10th, 2018, carrier data for Canadian phone numbers will no longer be provided by default via either the Lookups API or the Twilio Console. The following attributes will now return null
, rather than the actual data:
- mobile_network_code
- name
- type
Prior to 5/10/2018 | After 5/10/2018 |

How to Request this Data
In order to gain access to this data, you must first apply for approval with the CLNPC. Please reach out to our Support Team, and ask for access to Canadian carrier data in our Lookup API. We will respond with the required documentation, and then submit your completed application to the CLNPC.
Please note that the contract has an annual fee that has to be paid to CLNPC.
