We’re committed to helping you; please bear with us as there might be some delays. For more details, see Toll-Free Message Verification for US/Canada.

Unable to Place Outbound Calls using a Toll Free Number

Toll-free numbers from non-US countries are often not permitted to make outbound calls. This restriction does not extend to US Toll-Free numbers. If you are having an issue placing outbound calls using a US Toll-Free number, please contact Twilio support.

For context, non-US Toll-Free numbers are generally expected to be used by a business to handle incoming calls, as in a customer support call center use case. Outbound calling using these numbers is not supported in some countries. Outbound calls with toll-free numbers may be blocked by terminating carriers. In some cases, such calls can be terminated at a higher than expected rate. For details, please see the Voice Guidelines page for the country where you intend to use Toll-Free numbers for voice calling.
