How do I port my US Toll free numbers away from Twilio?

Please be informed that the Toll-free numbers do not require a PIN to submit the port out request. Instead, we rely on your timely approval in the Console to determine whether the toll-free port-outs are valid.

The end-user of the number(s) can submit their port to the gaining provider using their own information on the LOA and Twilio Account number/Account SID.

Account Number: The account number refers to the last 8 digits of the account SID which the number belongs to. However, please note that some carriers do not allow you to enter both letters and numbers. If that's the case, please use the last 8 numbers of your Account SID, excluding any letters.

IMPORTANT - If the Twilio account or subaccount SID is updated on the LOA when submitting it to the gaining carrier, then the port request will be automatically approved. This means, once we receive the port out request, we don't have to wait for the end user's approval; we approve the request manually, and this can also speed up the process.

Once we receive the request from the provider, we approve the request if Account SID or account number is mentioned. Otherwise, we will notify your company via email at which point you'll need to approve the requests in the Twilio console within 24 hours to ensure a smooth transition. https://www.twilio.com/console/phone-numbers/porting-requests/port-away-requests.

Additionally, to  submit the port away request for the  US toll-free numbers with your new carrier, follow these steps:

  1. Contact the New Carrier: Reach out to the carrier to which you want to port your numbers (e.g., Verizon, AT&T). They will guide you through their specific porting process.
  2. Complete a Letter of Authorization (LOA): Most carriers will require you to fill out a Letter of Authorization. This document authorizes the transfer of your number from Twilio to the new carrier.
  3. Provide Necessary Information: Be prepared to provide the following information:
  4. The phone number(s) you wish to port.
  5. Your Twilio Account SID.
  6. Any other details the new carrier might require.
  7. Follow Country-Specific Rules: Note that portability rules can vary by country. Ensure you comply with any specific requirements for the US.
  8. Await Confirmation: Once the new carrier initiates the porting process, you will receive a confirmation from Twilio. Ensure that all details match to avoid rejection.

If you encounter any issues or if the port request is rejected, contact Twilio at porting@twilio.com  with the details of the rejection and your Account SID for assistance.
