To port out the Canadian number: The end-user of the number can submit the port request to the gaining carrier using their own information (must be a Canadian address) on the LOA. There is no need for a PIN to port out the number away from us.
To process the port request for your Canadian numbers away from Twilio, follow these steps:
- Contact the New Carrier: Initiate the porting process by contacting the carrier to which you want to port your numbers. They will provide specific instructions based on their requirements.
- Complete a Letter of Authorization (LOA): Most carriers will require you to fill out a Letter of Authorization. This document authorizes the transfer of your number from Twilio to the new carrier.
- Provide Necessary Information: Be prepared to provide the following information:
-
-
- The phone number(s) you wish to port.
- Your Twilio Account SID.
- Any other details the new carrier might require.
-
- Follow Country-Specific Rules: Ensure you comply with any specific requirements for Canada. Note that Canadian numbers support both voice and SMS capabilities.
Once Twilio receives the port-away notification from their carrier partner raised by the gaining carrier, we'll alert and rely on you to approve the request on the Twilio console within 24 hours of being notified. Once you approve the port-out request, we will inform our carrier partner, and upon receiving the port completion confirmation from our carrier partner, we will release the number(s) to the gaining provider. If the request isn't approved from your side, then the port-out request gets rejected as unauthorized.
Please find the article to approve the port-out request here. Please be aware that the admin and billing authorized users listed in your Twilio account will receive an email notification for each step taken during the port-out process.
