Objective
This process is best suited for scenarios where the company is not actively using the Twilio Organizations and your domain is not verified under one.
If the companies accounts are managed by an Organization with verified domain - we recommend the ownership change to be completed trough the Organizations Managed Accounts flow.

Prerequisites
For the new owner:
- They have an existing Twilio login, in case they do not have an account - they can sign up here.
- They are Owner of an Organization without a verified domain, if they don't have organization. created already - they can do so from the Console, after logging in.
- They have the same email domain as the current owner.
- Their email domain is a company one(not gmail.com, outlook.com etc).
For the Main account that is having their ownership changed and its old owner.
- The account is active, upgraded, Pay as you Go.
- Invoiced, trial or suspended accounts cannot use this flow.
- The accounts old organization doesn't have domains verified under it.
- The old owners email domain is a company one(not gmail.com, outlook.com etc) and not verified by an organization and it matches the email domain of the new owner.
- The account is a Main account, Twilio does not support separate ownership for subaccounts.
Procedure

Browse to Accounts inside the Organizations Twilio Admin and click on Add Existing Account
- Click on Next to start the Ownership change process
- Enter the old owners email address in the Current account owner’s email address field and the Main account SID, then click on Next.
- Provide the billing information related to the last charge for the account you want to change the ownership for in the form and when ready click on Next.

Once our system verified the payment details the ownership change will start:

In order to ensure provide an extra layer of security - we will send an email to the old owner of the account to confirm immediately the request or deny it. In case there is no action taken on the email - after 3 days the ownership of the account will be changed to the person who initiated the flow.
- Once the change is completed - you will receive a notification on your email with subject: Your ownership change request is successfully completed and the account will become a managed account in your Organization. The old owner will remain on the account as an Admin, if you want to remove them from the account completely, check the article here.
Additional Information
Error handling
Our system provides a number of error messages in case the process cannot be completed.
- In case you cannot add the Twilio account because it is Invoiced, Suspended or Trial or you cannot recall the the billing/account information needed in steps 3 and 4 of the process - we would recommend you to verify the domain of the old owner and follow the change process described in the FAQ article .
- If the old owners domain is already verified in a Twilio organization - it is advisable the check internally in your company who is managing the organization and then have the Twilio Organization Admins/Owner of it follow Change owner of Twilio Account that is managed by Twilio Organization.
- If you have more than 10 accounts in your Organization, an error message will be displayed. You can reach out to support to increase it or verifying the domain of the old account owner(s) and follow the change process described in Change owner of Twilio Account that is managed by Twilio Organization.
- If you run into a rate limit - please start the process on the next day after double checking the billing details of the last transaction.

- Account SID(s) for which the change needs to be made
- The new account owner's email
