Overview
Our new Short Codes UI is now available in Beta in your Twilio Console. This Beta gives you an easy way to provision and manage your US Twilio Short Codes, and supports provisioning of new US Short Codes, Self-leasing and Migrations.
What You Need To Know
Our new Short Codes UI will provide you with a self-serve experience, directly within the Twilio Console, so that you can quickly and accurately provision Short Codes, ensure compliance with local regulations and expedite your time to market for short code messaging.
With this new interface, we’ve streamlined many tasks, allowing you to:
- Create and submit an application for a new Short Code.
- Provide the necessary information to support the application in compliance with the applicable regulatory requirements.
- Reuse your existing regulatory customer profiles when applying for new Short Codes, expediting the provisioning process.
- Monitor your Short Code application review status.
- Edit and resubmit the application if a change is required.
- Manage your active Short Code configuration once the application is approved.
Please be aware:
- This Public Beta supports ONLY United States Short Codes. Canada, the United Kingdom and other countries will be supported in future launches.
- Existing and ongoing United States applications that were submitted using the legacy experience will preserve the legacy experience.
- When applying for a US Short Code, there is a new regulatory requirement to provide the EIN and contact information for the Brand associated with a Short Code (changelog).
Payments during the New Console Experience Beta
Once a Twilio Short Code specialist reviews your application, the payment for your new Short Code will be triggered automatically. If your account is configured to use invoices, we will automatically charge your new Short Code in the next invoice. If your account uses a credit card, we will automatically charge your main credit card at the time of provisioning.
ISV Considerations
If you are an Independent Software Vendor (ISV) who wants to provision a new Short Code on behalf of one of your customers for their messaging use case:
- You are responsible for gathering the required information from your customer to submit a compliant application.
- You will provide the EIN and contact information of your customer, the owner of the Brand associated with the Short Code being provisioned.
Frequently Asked Questions
When will this process be available for Short Codes outside the US?
We are planning to transition all global short code applications to this process by the end of Q2 2025.
What are the main differences between the old and new experience?
In the new process, we are collecting all compliance information upfront, including the Brand EIN and contact information. This automates the current manual experience today and greatly expedites your time to market.
If a short code application submitted using the old process is still pending, will that application be impacted?
No, it will not be impacted. You can continue editing your pending application within the original process flow.
