Can I change the owner of the account?

Yes, the owner of a Twilio account can be changed. Depending on how the account is currently set up, you may be able to self-service this change or need to reach out to Twilio Support for assistance.

Self-Service Account Owner Change

If the account is part of an Organization, customers can change the owner of a Managed Twilio Account through the Twilio Admin.

Only Managed Accounts and Managed Users can be updated in the Twilio Organization.

Domains
A verified Domain is also required when adding Managed Users to your Organization. Only users with email domains matching the verified Domain(s) can be added as Managed Users to the Organization. If the Organization does not have a verified Domain, you will need to add a Domain before users can be managed by the Organization.

To change an account's owner from Twilio Admin:

  1. Go to the Managed Accounts page and select the account you want to change.
  2. Click on the General tab.
  3. Select the X in the Account Owner text field to remove the existing value of the Owner's email address.
  4. Enter the email address or User SID of the new owner.
  5. Select the new owner.
  6. Click the Save button.

Alternatively, if you have access to the current owner's Twilio Admin login, you can change the contact information (name and/or email address) from the Users Settings in Console. Please note:

  • If the new owner is an existing user, this process will not work.
  • This change will also affect any Twilio account(s) this user account has access to, so proceed with caution.

If the Organization owner needs to be updated, that is a different process. You can find out how to change the Organization Owner here.

Support Assisted Account Owner Change

If the account is not part of an Organization, please contact the Twilio Support team to help change the account owner. Be sure to include the following information in your request:

  • Account SID(s) for which the change needs to be made
  • The new account owner's email
