Yes, the owner of a Twilio account can be changed. Depending on how the account is currently set up, you may be able to self-service this change or need to reach out to Twilio Support for assistance.
Self-Service Account Owner Change
If the account is part of an Organization, customers can change the owner of a Managed Twilio Account through the Twilio Admin.
Only Managed Accounts and Managed Users can be updated in the Twilio Organization.
- If you have an Independent Account, you will need to add the existing account as a managed account to your Organization.
- If a user is not yet managed by your Organization, you will need to invite the existing user to your Organization.
To change an account's owner from Twilio Admin:
- Go to the Managed Accounts page and select the account you want to change.
- Click on the General tab.
- Select the X in the Account Owner text field to remove the existing value of the Owner's email address.
- Enter the email address or User SID of the new owner.
- Select the new owner.
- Click the Save button.
Alternatively, if you have access to the current owner's Twilio Admin login, you can change the contact information (name and/or email address) from the Users Settings in Console. Please note:
- If the new owner is an existing user, this process will not work.
- This change will also affect any Twilio account(s) this user account has access to, so proceed with caution.
If the Organization owner needs to be updated, that is a different process. You can find out how to change the Organization Owner here.
