Twilio's Global MMS allows users to attach supported media files to their text messages in select countries. Previously, MMS was only available in the US and Canada, but we're working with partners all around the world to expand our reach. This guide explains the basics of Global MMS, and covers the following topics:
- The Global MMS Reach
- How to send an International MMS Message
- Requesting additional MMS Country reach
- Capability Matrix by Country
Global MMS Reach
Twilio is actively working with global countries and carriers to enable MMS messaging. Each country will have their own requirements and limitations. At a high-level, the global countries that now support MMS include:
- US
- Canada
- Australia
How to send an International MMS Message
It’s simple. You can now use our Programmable Messaging API to send MMS internationally by including the E.164 international destination phone number in the “To” field of your request. Whether you are sending to a US destination or Australia, nothing changes.
What if there is a country that I want to send an MMS to that is not on the current Global MMS Reach?
If there is a country that you want to send MMS messages to that is not currently on Twilio’s global MMS reach, you can reach out to us by filling out this form and include:
- Your Name and Business
- Contact Email
- Country of interest
- Use Case
- Estimated MMS messages to be sent per month
We are in constant communication with carriers across the globe; by letting us know your interest we can better plan for our next destination.
Else, remember, your MMS messages can be converted to SMS messages with a short URL link to the media by enabling MMS Converter.
